Directions to the State House
The State House is located on the corners of Capitol and State Streets in Augusta. The west entrance, facing the Cross Office Building, is open to the public.
To get to the State House from I-95 get off at exit 109 and travel east on route 202 (Western Avenue). Continue to the first rotary where you take the first possible right turn onto State Street. Proceed to the traffic light where you will see the State House in front of you on the right. Turn right at the light onto Capitol Street for access to parking behind the Cross Office Building or in the Sewall Street garage. If you are using electronic map i.e. Google map type in 210 State Street, Augusta, Maine. Parking may also be available south of the State House, behind the State Library, Archives and Museum building.
Parking area restrictions (including time limits) are enforced by Capitol Police. Please observe signs and do not park in parking areas marked by signs restricting parking to Legislators only.

Free public parking is located in front of the Cross Office Building, accessible from Sewall Street, and in the multilevel parking garage on the corner of Capitol and Sewall Streets. There are several additional smaller lots, northeast of the parking garage, near the Blaine House, on Wade and Grove Streets.
Handicapped parking spaces are located between the State House and the Cross Office Building and on the Capitol Street side of the west entrance. There are additional spaces on the lower levels of the parking garage and near the north end of the Cross Office Building lot. The public entrance to the State House is on the back, facing the Cross Office Building. The State House may also be accessed through the connecting tunnel from inside the Cross Office Building. There are elevators at all levels. Please check at the Information Desk just inside the public entrance if you have any questions.
